At SuperWrap, every beeswax wrap we make is thoughtfully handcrafted to be eco-friendly, food-safe and stylish. But what is actually the process behind making one of these sustainable food savers?
Here’s a peek behind the scenes at how SuperWrap creates our beloved beeswax wraps–from raw organic ingredients to the final product you use every single day:
Step 1: Carefully Choose our Ingredients
We start with the highest quality, natural ingredients to ensure your wrap is safe for food, long-lasting and environmentally friendly.
What goes inside our wraps:
-
Beeswax – Sustainably sourced from local beekeepers
-
Pine resin – Adds natural tackiness and self sealing ability for the wrap to stick well.
-
Jojoba Oil – Softens the wax for a smooth, flexible finish
These ingredients are very important to balance grip and pliability, helping the wax mold easily around containers, fruits, bread and more.
Step 2: Sourcing 100% Cotton Fabric
Every SuperWrap starts with fabric–and we take pride in sourcing it responsibly through two ways: upcycled textile waste and 100% organic cotton. We use 100% organic fabric that is light, breathable and washable. The upcycled textiles used in this project are sourced from schools, donations and charity programs, ensuring that materials that might otherwise be discarded are repurposed for a meaningful cause.
Our sourced cotton is ethically made and free from harmful chemicals and will then be designed and printed locally to maintain quality and aesthetics. Both methods align with our mission to reduce environmental impact while supporting local products and creativity.
Step 3: Waxing Process
We melt our special beeswax blend with the natural ingredients that are in excess from local bee farms at a specific temperature and infuse it into the upcycled fabric. In our factory, we use a press heat machine for this process, while in our workshop, we utilize a steam iron to evenly apply the beeswax blend by hand.
It is important that the heat melts the wax to ensure every inch of fabric is fully coated without being oversaturated. This ensures optimal stickiness, breathability and durability.
Step 4: Drying & Curing
Once the fabric is coated with wax, we hang it or lay it flat to cool and cure. As they dry, they stiffen slightly but retain just enough softness to be foldable and responsive to seal with the warmth of your hands.
Step 5: Quality Check & Packaging
Every wrap is hand inspected for wax coverage, flexibility, grip and neat edges. Once approved, they are folded in our recyclable packaging, ready for your kitchen. Our biodegradable packaging includes usage instructions, ingredients and benefits. For more creative ideas, check out our previous blog here to know more how to use our wraps.
Each SuperWrap is made with care, quality and love. By using natural ingredients and sustainable practices, we’re not just making a product–we’re part of a movement to reduce single-use plastics and help people to build better habits.
